This is what annoys me, having two separate databases for the same info, with one (/etc/termcap) always getting out-of-sync. Then the programs that use termcap have strange behavior because of those differences.

Let me quote what Andries Brouwer wrote on 2002-10-12
Quote:
The file /etc/termcap defines the escape sequences used by many programs addressing the console (or any other terminal). See termcap(5). A more modern version is found in /usr/lib/terminfo.
twelve years later, terminfo stays "more modern" but termcap is still alive

Any other packages left that need to be checked, or have we fairly much covered everything?

If so, or when we can say enough is enough, the fate of certain packages needs to be addressed, namely those that are forked packages like procps-ng versus procps for example, which has not been actively developed for some time. Should the newer editions of such packages be considered for /testing possibly?

Thanks, nobodino - I've gone through and picked up a lot of those (not all, though).

Re the termcap/terminfo stuff, that needs to be handled by Pat - someone who feels strongly about that can email him. :-)

I read "Good luck" though you didn't write it

[OT]Did you see this? I know that you are busy enough, but you are among the few who can give a sound advice to the OP.[/OT]

-acpid: 2.0.19 to 2.0.23 http://acpid.sourceforge.net/

That's a seriously fantastic list! It represents, I'm sure, a lot of work on your part in addition to the research and other comments in this thread.

Well done, and thank you.

just compiled it

--enable-timed-cache is without a dash, as --enable-timedcache
--enable-shape is not in there, maybe that is --enable-xext

I already mentioned this one on post #190. This thread is getting to the point where we should take advantage of the 'Search this thread' feature. ;-)
