tar-1.29 (current -- Fri May 20 2016) : --exclude-from=FILE

Hi,

Since the new tar-1.29, the option --exclude-from=FILE (-X) doesn't work anymore (I didn't test other --exclude* options). I downgrade to tar-1.28 and it works. So it seems to be a bug in the last release.
Do you confirm this issue?

could you please paste the command that you are using and that doesn't work with 1.29?

I'm asking because it could be related to the fact that options are, from this release, position-sensitive (they apply to arguments specified after them)

I use this command :
Code:
# tar cvf /tmp/test.tar . -X /tmp/file2exclude
where "file2exclude" contains :
Code:
dir1/*
dir2/*
With tar-1.28, all files in dir1/ and dir2/ are excluded.
With tar-1.29, all files in dir1/ and dir2/ are not.
