System freezes during boot with USB device plugged in.
I recently switched to Slackware from RedHat, but I'm still a newbie to linux in general. So anyway, with the help of another forum, I got my USB mouse working. The problem is that if I boot the computer with the mouse plugged in, it freezes every time. Any idea what may be causing this? I can post output of any command if you want.
Also, plugging in the mouse after I boot only works sometimes (never freezes that way though). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The device is less than a year old. It is USB 1.0, and so is my computer. My computer has 1 USB port, but the boot-up sequence says it finds 2 USB ports on the 1 hub.
I really don't know how to recompile the kernel...
