solution


I had the same problem with Firefox, XChat and a bunch of other programs after I upgraded pango and cairo to their latest versions.

The problem was that I didn't know I needed to upgrade gtk+2 and glib2 as well.

After I upgraded them, everything's working again.

Do not hijack threads. When your problem is utterly unrelated to someone else's thread, you are supposed to start a new thread.

Necroposting, e.g, the practice of responding to a thread that died out long ago with an unrelated problem is also not useful.
