starting X


I can start X when i'm log in as root but not with other users. What should I do?

Post the error messages you get in .xsession-errors so we can look for clues

Probably wrong permissions/ownership of X server executable (missing suid bit ?).
For example:
Code:
chown root.bin <Xorg>
chmod 4711 <Xorg>
Or rather reinstall x11 package.

/var/log/Xorg.0.log or /var/log/XFree86.0.log may also help to analyse source of the problem.
