Start game server at boottime.

I'm wonder the best way to start a game server at boottime. I have slackware 10.2.

The custom command to launch the server is:

etded +set vm_game 0 +set fs_game etpro +exec server.cfg

Put this line at the end of /etc/rc.d/rc.local, that should be fine

I added this line to rc.local. Rebooted the system. The server did not run. Ideas?

Here are rc.local's permissions.

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 171 2005-10-07 15:40 rc.local

Where is server.cfg file ? Also does it need to be started as a particular user ?

When you execute the line you posted in a terminal, does it start well ?

The server config files is in the same directory as the executable.

The game is started by any user.

If I execute that command manually the server does start as I configured. I still cant seem to make Slackware start this process with those paramaters at boot time. Thanks for helping. Ideas?

Not sure where it is setup, but would suspect that the path to the executable is not included in the PATH variable. Not sure where this is setup; unfortunately not got access to my Slack box as I am at work . You would need to add the path to the directory where the executable is after the other defaults, so it is something like PATH=/xxx/xx/x:/cc/c:/PATH TO YOUR EXECUTABLE.

Hopefully someone can update where this is configured.

Best of luck,

snickwad
