Have you tried transferring directly between the two Slackware systems with a crossover cable? That would tell you whether the problem is the way Slackware is configured or a router/switch in between.

I have two gigabit Slackware systems in my LAN that transfer files anywhere from 300 to 600 Mbps. I just tested transferring a 30MB file in 0.606 seconds (49.5 MBps/396 Mbps) and a 300 MB file in 5.995 seconds (50 MBps/402 Mpbs). Not shabby, although I have a TV capture card recording in progress that might be affecting the times.

Are you serious?

QoS only works if is enforced at the firewall/switch level along with the OS.
I have not setup any QoS nether at the firewalls or at the OS. I dont need more prove than that.

You don't have a router or switch anywhere in your home network? Maybe a switch controlled by your cable company or ISP?

And you're arguing that Apple doesn't autoconfigure stuff for you?

Richard,

I have control of my LAN. I know what is running and what is not. The isue is not at the WAN so the isp has nothing to do with the issue.. Arguing what? I am not arguing anything. I never said apple does not auto configures. I do not have an apple base network. Everything is UNIX/Linux base starting with the firewall down to the systems with the exception of one Desktop that is OSX and one Laptop that is WinXP. And both can transfer to the cifs/nfs Linux systems just fine. I also have two centos server which again can transfer just fine.

The only issues are my slackware systems and that's why I am here.

I do appreciate all the help.
