Play nice now and try not to start any controversies! I do believe he was only giving good information to you in which you should appreciate any information given to you, in any shape or form.

And also on a side note hackers_

If you read one of h1tman's responses, he got the modem working, so no need to tell him to get a real modem. That doesn't help the situation he is in, even if he got it working or not. The solution isn't to tell them to buy or attain a new piece of hardware until its a last resort resolution, like if its a definitely a device that won't work using Linux. Regards.

Nobody was acting like they knew it all. I made some suggestions. Apparently, somehow that offened you. I'm not here to get into a pissing contest with you. If you don't like the advice I give, ignore it. Telling me to go away or calling me a smartass will NOT get you anything from me, or the other users on this forum.

Did you actually read my post? Apparently not. May I remind you that we have rules here and name calling or personal attacks are not welcome. You have been warned. http://www.linuxquestions.org/rules.php

You have to remind yourself you are on a free and open forum for all to register, view, post, etc. You might get responses you want and you might get some you don't want. You should be grateful you are getting responses as some might not.

If someone gives you advice that you weren't seeking, just ignore it and don't respond to them. Most are here to help and will give advice that might have been helpful to them at one time or another to your questions.

Was your question a very popular type question? IMHO, yes. A simple search would have found the answers for you before asking.

Do we make you search? No, but its always a nice feature to have cause some never have to ask a question, the answer might already be out there for you.

Did nerotique give good advice? IMHO yes it was.

Was what he said offensive or rude to you? No

By you calling him a smartass justified? No and you have been warned.

Do we delete unhelpful threads here? No cause most of the time we don't delete threads until they are breaking the rules, in most cases we will just edit them out. And most of the time there aren't any unhelpful threads.

Regards.

* note * Lets drop the bickering now. Anyone who brings up who started what, who did that or this..etc, none of that will be tolerated. Lets move on with the thread and discussion. If anyone wants to bring up anything regarding calling someone a name or the such on this matter, it better be just an apology. Other than that, if you got a problem with another member, email me directly or the site admin jeremy to handle at this point. Keep it clean please or don't post at all.

how was he helpful, when i said in the beginning, i found it crazy that they didnt offer the kernel sources on the iso. he responded they do on the 4 cd set. that comment was totally irrelevant, because i said on the iso. everyone else offered good suggestions and he made a comment which resulting in cloggin up the thread.

talk to my on pm
