Hi Guys,
Could somebody please be willing to send me the Slackware and Debian DVDs?.
Can send you back Maverick(ubuntu) DVD ,if You want it.
Am a Student and I only got GPRS internet so the store and downloading images are not options.
Any Help will be highly appreciated!
Hey!
Thanks for reply.
Debian need it mostly for my LPI-2 quest but I also just like distros that teach you something more than just clicking.
Maverick and Gutsy are just not good fit replacements.
Slackware=love of my life since high school (lol) 10.0 and current would make my new year.
Like I Said the store is not an option at the moment. Am desperate and betting on the Tux Spirit at the moment (not that am not willing to give back.am just a little bit of a tight spot).
Thanx again.
By the way if anybody needs Linux+ or LPI-1 stuff, just tap the door.
Ok.
Sorry if I twisted things a bit and diverted.
My main target on this post is Debian, like I said I BADLY NEED it for my LPI-2. (Slackware is a lower target for this post but its always good to be upto date)
Why slack? Cause its my main OS and has been since 10.0( All others vbox guests). Call me stuborn but I just love it.
Every slack is rock-solid. Thanks for the correction , was under assumption that slacks versions are like the kernel versioning ( even number=stable. Odd numbers=unstable)
13.0 had no issues at all for me. 13.1 has a few here and there that generally only crop up when you're doing something non-standard (particularly with LVMs and encryption, since the udev/lvm2/cryptsetup versions shipped with 13.1 have some minor issues that were never fixed). Both work fairly well. 12.[012] all worked without any problems as well. I've never tried it before, but places like this may be what you're looking for. They ship Linux CDs/DVDs for cheap. Of course, it is always better to support Pat through the Slackware store, but if you are unable right now you can find places that will ship for basically the cost of printing/shipping.
What about a local library or University computer lab to use for downloads? wifi-hotspot?
Look at Linux User Groups which is a World list for Lunix User Groups. Linux Meetup Groups the means to meet other local Linux enthusiasts to talk about the latest news and software may provide a resource.
Good suggstion, onebuck. Even my local McDonalds has free wifi! You may have to sit there for a couple of hours and drink coffee or something, but it might be worth it.
Ok.

... and coming from a "mickeysoft" background, the old joke was that even numbered (including ESPECIALLY anything ending in ".0") versions of OSes are always unstable. but then again, any Windows OS is inherently unstable, so it's more of a matter of degree... Win2k (4) wasn't as stable as WinXP, WinXP(5) was more stable than Vista (6), and apparently Win7 is also more stable than Vista. but these all being versions of Windows, the "stability" is all relative. Windows (especially the NTFS flavors) has been unstable from the beginning. I am currently on a Windows machine that has to be rebooted at least once a week, or it will start churning disk cache continuously, but my Slack 13 box at home can go 24/7 for months with no ill effects and no reboots except for normal hardware maintenance and the occasional power failure....
<Off topic>I have had several stable M$ Windows machines, mostly Xp. Occasional problems but nothing that could not be fixed. Occasionally boot when Xp is needed.< /off topic>
