Slackware -current upgrade question

Hi, is it safe to ignore recent updates of xorg server (whole x series)? I mean, can I just omit them and install/upgrade everything else? I had to downgrade to xorg 1.13 because nvidia 304.84 driver is not stable while 304.64 fails to work with new xorg. Thanks in advance.
