Slackware bootdisk for adaptec i20 raid 5

Has anyone seen or ever managed to boot a slackware installation using an adaptec i20 raid 5 configuration?

the card is a adaptec 2100S. Ive built a kernel on another machine which is similar and then built a boot and rootdisk from the results, but when booting the install. It can only recognise the drives as read only so i cant do an install.

Anyone had any similar problems, or solutions?

Thx

Porky.
