slackware-8.1 and supermount
hey slackers,
i used to use mandrake 9, and while it shows a lot of depth, i found it a bit "bloaty" for me. so i switched to slackware 8.1 and the current version of dropline gnome.
i'm much happier now, but i miss supermount from mandrake (automounting a removable media and having it appear on your desktop in gnome or kde).
so i tried to get this to work in slackware 8.1
1) i downloaded the appropriate supermount kernel patches for my kernel (2.4.18) and patched the kernel.
2) i recompiled the kernel and during 'make menuconfig' i made sure to select "yes" to supermount.
3) i rebooty.
4) i edited /etc/fstab and added the reference to supermount (the exact syntax of which i have written down somewhere).
but this causes nautilus to crash upon starting gnome (it's falling over during lines 3 & 4 of /etc/fstab, which are my cdrom and floppy respectively). so obviously supermount didn't work.
has anyone had any experience with this in slackware? any tips/info would be grrrreatly. appreciated.
cheers,
rob
