An advice to everyone on this forum who is confronted to a troll:
- don't answer to him,
- don't argue with him,
- just ignore him,
- he doesn't deserve any attention, not even a word or comment on what is says.
The best way to treat that kind of person is to act as if he was transparent.
The trolls are fed by your reactions, when you tease them they over react.
So let them go away by themself.
Pleasantly amazed with slackware 15.0 beta. It has been years since I tried installing "vanilla" slackware and used salix/slackel/zenwalk but another praise for liveslak.
I consider Flame Wars to often be good advertising, especially here where some trolls are way over the top yet continue for many pages to get reasoned and reasonable responses. It's only when a troll becomes truly inane and demonstrates they haven't a clue what they are talking about and have been well-answered on anything remotely meaningful and accurate`that I resort to "Ignore"
In the past few weeks I think this Slackware sub-forum on LQN has done quite well at demonstrating the high quality of Slackers to an unusual number of triggerbait trolls.
I'm betting, FWIW, that final release will see a heavier than ever download cycle. I'm also betting LiveSlak will see increases. What a superb tool it is!
I think we need to check out the mirrors file, not all are UP or resolvable.
I have successfully updated my 3 Slackware units to 15.0 Beta 1. It can on occasion take some time for a mirror to update.
Try again later today. If it does not resolve check your network connection and if that's okay you can always select another mirror.
This is a fresh install of beta 1, DNS entry for ftp.slackware.at does not exist and http://ftp.slackware.no/slackware does not exist, those are entries in the mirror file for slackpkg, it is not a sync problem. My connection is ok

Okay. I did a fresh install of Beta 1 this morning and I added my own mirror to /etc/slackpkg/mirrors and everything is fine. Are all of the -current mirrors not responding?
No, for now, only those two, I need to test the others.
You can try out my slack-mirror-speedtest.sh script to easily test mirrors to see if they're running (it doesn't check to see if they're up-to-date). Just replace the default US list with the region you're interested in testing (or you can do all of them, but it'd just take longer).

A troll topic should always have 0 replies. People shouldn't complain about the trolls but entertain the tom foolery by responding. There isn't a need to defend Slackware every time someone has a negative opinion or disagree with the distro. We're constantly getting these
posts about is Slackware Dead, is slackware alive etc...That alone is pretty annoying yet people keep on responding.

That worked maybe a decade or two ago, but it doesn't look like that works these days. It is a funny cliche to not "wrestle with a pig because you both get dirty and the pig likes it" but fakery unchallenged often gains traction even long after debunked if the time for debunking is much later than the accusation. IMHO, if it is worth defending, defend it, even against scurrilous and ridiculous FUD. HOW one does that is certainly important but not defending at all is very risky. Consider the large numbers of people who actually believe the Earth is flat or Moon Landing was Hollywood fakery.
It is a challenge to debunk with grace, but I think it's worth the effort. Besides, at best ignoring completely lends an air of "elitist snobs and hipsters" not to be trusted.
