Slackware 14.1, qt-4.8.7 and Alienbob's kde 4.14.3

Hurray! There are slackware updates to qt-4.8.7. One question, I run Alienbob's KDE 4.14.3 packages for 14.1. Updating to qt-4.8.7 should be okay for the newer KDE?

* Shoutout to Alienbob for the newer KDE.

I have KDE 4.14.3 installed on 14.1, and swapping between qt 4.8.6 and 4.8.7 didn't seem to make any difference at all. Both worked.

Slackware build of kde 4.10.5 and Alien bobs 4.13.3 are day and night. There is a serious amount of changes that are installed and removed. if you want to compile and install 4.13.3 in slackware 14.1 go ahead but them two desktops are day and night. I do not know why Pat went to qt 4.8.7 change log says bugs. ok so we used the first set of bugs for 2 years then 4.8.4 for a while. and now Pat says 4.8.6 was buggy have to go to 4.8.7 . Do I believe him No!. Do I believe it is to buggy to make the distro upgrade yes. He has a bigger picture. One thing I will say the several I mean several custom programs I have built with qt right now did not have a issue with his update Or you would see a post here starting with WTF Pat why fix it if it is not broken. Well Pat.

4.8.7 is the last planned release for Qt4 and it contains bug fixes only, so it's considered safe to put this on 14.1
Since it maintain compatibility with previous release, your packages should be working without any problem

It's simple. Qt 4.8.7 was put into Slackware 14.1 as a patch to address security issues, as well as applying some fixes that make LibreOffice work better in KDE4 and KDE4 system tray applications work better in Plasma 5.
The Qt 4.8.7 is a drop-in replacement for the previous 4.8.6 thanks to the great effort the Qt developers put into maintaining compatibility between releases.
I have already removed my own Qt 4.8.6 package from my 'ktown' repository (KDE 4.14.3 for Slackware 14.1) now that Pat has updated the official Qt package. Just upgrade your computer to the official Slackware qt-4.8.7 package and all will be well.

Thanks Bob! Keep on packaging.
