Lightbulb Slackware 12: You like it - you buy it - support Slackware!!

This seems like the perfect time and opportunity to remind all regulars on this forum to visit the Slackware store (once it's updated) and buy your personal CD/DVD set, or even better - to renew your Slackware subscription!

Please support Patrick Volkerding and team and register your copy of Slackware today.

Friends don't let friends forget to support Pat Volkerding to secure future stellar Slackware releases.

Also - please don't forget to remind your friends of the same - Patrick has been churning out excellent releases longer than any other distribution maintainer - let's motivate him to keep it up for another 15-20 years :-)

Excellent advice. I have had a subscription for a number of years now and it's so great to come home one day and have the official CD's waiting at the doorstep. IMHO, it seems that Pat and the rest of the team have put even more effort into this particular release and for me, it shows. The cool number of updates, from the kernel to modular Xorg to Apache2 to all sorts of other neat tweaks under the hood are just amazing. This is a very, very cool release. If you like and use Slackware, please consider contributing to the project like Yalla-One suggests.

Sounds ok, could they lower the price a bit ... I'm kinda short on cash at the moment. Maybe I should just donate $20 or so, and download it instead ...

I'm worring about shipping costs. Maybe the better way for me is by subscription.

Hi,

I'de really like to buy in a store in Europe since i would appreciate to have an original DVD and the printed slackware essentials book. In my country it just doesn't pay off to buy from the US. The custom fees almost triple the price of the product.

Guess i'll have to donate, since i've already downloaded it !!!

Regards

PS: If you know were to buy in europe, please warn me about it !!!

Well, if everything that's purchased from store.slackware.com goes to the Slackware project, cash strapped people like me could just purchase the Complete Linux Reference, a t-shirt, a bumper sticker or the plush Penguin. Just a thought!

I've also downloaded Slackware 12.0
I don't have a paypal account. I'd like to mail Patrick a check.
Should I make it payable to Slackware Linux?

Suggest you ask Pat directly to whom the check should be issued, but you can also try the Slackware store:

Okay. Thanks, Yalla-One:-)
I'll send them an e-mail and ask who to make the check payable to.

I might have missed something, but do Slackware/Patrick actually have a Paypal account? I searched for that some time ago but found just some messages from about 2002/2003 if I remember right.
I would like to donate (my last CD order took about two months to deliver) but have no credit card, so if you have any info about a Paypal account PLEASE let me know, it's higly appreciated

EDIT: Oh, and yes, I emailed the Slackware Store, but I got no response about that.

I don't know if they have a paypal account, that's probably an incorrect assumption on my part. I couldn't find anywhere on the site where I can make a donation.
I'll also try e-mailing them.

i'll buy.

maybe sign up for subscription too.. my birthday in 5 days, so this (v12) is like an early present

maybe I'll even get my wife to let me install it on sunday

imho - it does seem a bit spendy, if you buy a set 1-2 every year, thats a lot of money for an OS.

Please consider purchasing or at least donating to Slackware if you've decided it's the best distro for you. You do not need Paypal, etc. I paid for Slack v11.0 with a check (payable to Slackware Linux) that I mailed to the address hitest listed above.

Support your distro of choice!
