First we need to make sure the driver for your NIC is loaded -- try this command:
ifconfig eth0 up

If that gives you an error, then the driver probably isn't loaded. If it's not, we need to figure out what driver you need for your card, so post up what its model is.

If the command goes ok, you should be able to run:
dhcpcd eth0
And have a network connection

I will try that command, but another problem that I noticed is that it seems to be trying to connect with my regular dialup modem because I get a message that it is now hanging up, how can I disable pppoe?
