Slack 13.37 - Upgrade kernel to 3.1 freezes any WM(kde or xfce)

Hi to all!

I upgraded my kernel to 3.1, and after this when I start the kdm, or directly start the xfce, its freezes, my mouse don't move, the keyboard and all.

I compiled the kernel using the same config as 2.6.37(Default of 13.37) found in /proc/config.

Any of you haves the same error?

Is this on your laptop with a Radeon HD 5470? Perhaps you will find some clues here. http://www.x.org/wiki/radeonBuildHowTo
One possibility is missing firmware.

So, my laptop is a poor graphic laptop, and has only the intel integrated graphics...

There are some issues about another users with the same problem?

Since 2.6.37, I believe intel graphics changes a lot...

As you say, it can be a firmware problem...

Do you have another idea what it can be?
