scim Input Trigger

Hi,

I'm trying to get scim to use a different input trigger. The default is Control+Space which works fine, but I'm trying to set it to Alt + Shift because there are shortcut keys I have set to use Ctrl + Space.

So in SCIM Input Method Setup under FrontEnd and Global Setup, I have added Alt+Shift_L. That didn't work, so I tried just putting the keys in and letting SCIM automatically identify the keys.

It came out with Meta+Shift_L+KeyRelease.

With either of these, the input method doesn't change. I'm wondering how I can change the input method in SCIM to Alt + Left Shift.

Bump for some hopeful help. I've tried toying with scim with Alt + Shift and a lot of other setups but none of them have worked.

Hi,

Why not use iBus as was suggested in your old scim thread in the Slackware forum on 07-14-11;
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...3/#post4414717

Users are moving away from scim since it is no longer supported. Users are using iBus. You can get the iBus Slackware package from SlackBuilds.org: http://slackbuilds.org/result/?search=ibus&sv=13.37
Quote:
excerpt from 13.37 > Misc > ibus (1.3.9)
IBus is an Intelligent Input Bus. It is a new input framework for Linux.
It provides a full featured and user friendly input method user interface.
It also may help developers to develop input method easily.

After installing at least one engine (e.g. PinYin engine) and enabling it
in ibus-setup, ibus itself should be fully functional. If you want to use
ibus as your primary input method, you should remove the scim package.

This requires pyxdg. By default, it uses GConf. But you can let it
use memconf instead of GConf explicitly by setting USE_GCONF=no.
GConf can be found in SBo.
If you use qt applications, then you probably want ibus-qt as well.

Thus, this requires GConf unless you choose to use memconf instead.

After installing, ibus will automatically be started in an xdg-compliant
desktop environment; if this behavior is undesirable, you can disable it
using your DE's session and/or startup management utility.
iBus Wiki or iBus wiki ReadME may help.

SlackBuilds iBus for 13.37.
HTH!

I did use iBus for a time and although that did accept the Alt+Shift_L command as desired, for some reason if I had separated the keys (like I hit alt, let go, and then hit Shift) it would still trigger. I made sure I had a delay before hitting the keys but it would still affect iBus.

Konphine, if you use kde, better try kimtoy. It is a frontend for scim/fcitx/ibus and easy to configure.

below is the address:
