Well, I got another machine for free so I thought I'd throw on Slack 9.1. Everything seemed fine, but something was not right with my X display. It was mirrored 4 times horizontally... With nothing working, I thought I'd try this: Boot the Live-CD version, which worked perfectly, then copy that XF86Config to my hd. Will this work?
Nope, didn't work. Working from Left to right I get about 1/4 of the screen is ok, then it mirrors that part for the other 3/4 of the screen (4 times)... no idea. Why can the Slack Live-CD detect and work perfect but Slack can't?

Try (as root):
Code:
XFree86 -configure
This will create a XF86Config.new in /root. Edit this file to fix anything that wasn't detected and copy it to /etc/X11 (make a backup copy of /etc/X11/XF86Config before overwriting it with .new)
Also, XF86Config is/should be distro-independent, so if you know someone with the same video setup, you should be able to copy their XF86Config file. . .

I Did this, but it still does it, only now it only 1 mirror of my screen... It has something do with my monitor, but I just can't get it....
Ok, well, I know I said I'd give up, but, it was bugging me too much! So I finally got it working. I copied over XF86Config-fbdev to XF86Config. Changed the line in lilo.conf to vga=791. run 'lilo' and reboot. Now it works perfect. Now it's time to play with Slack!
