I used to have my internet setup with a static ip (I have cable) no problem I used netconfig to set it all up and it worked fine.
I recently installed a machine with smoothwall to work as a gateway/firewall for my little network.. Now I can only get my orignal machine to use internet if I either set it to dhcp or manually setup everything with ifconfig.
For some reason when I use netconfig it doesn´t seem to update anything if I try to set a static ip but when I changed it to dynamic... I saw it looking and finding an ip dynamically.
I hope this makes sense.
I think there is somthing strange maby with netconfig??
It doesn´t matter anyway. I just manually edited my /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf and resolv.conf files and its sweet.... still makes me wonder what happend to netconfig though???
