pnm2ppa not in cups PATH

The rc.cups file (the file that controls CUPS service) initializes the PATH environment variable as follows:

Code:
if test "x$PATH" = x; then
        PATH="/bin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin"
else
        PATH="/bin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:$PATH"
fi

export PATH
However, the default installation path for pnm2ppa printer driver is /usr/local/bin so the CUPS daemon can't find this application.

Having said this, I believe there are two options:
1. Preserve the rc.cups as is and make users change the default instalation path (probably to /usr/bin).

2. Add /usr/local/bin to CUPS path (which I think is more adequate).

So the question is this: should this be filed as a bug (option #2), or should I reinstall pnm2ppa?

Hello,

AFAIK pnm2ppa is not part of the Slackware (or am I wrong?). so I don't think that you should file a bug.

I would rather suggest that you modify the path when you install pnm2ppa (I guess that you installed it by compiling the source code or did you create a package?).

I agree with Gegchris99. Slackware installs nothing in /usr/local, so its up to the sysadmin either to install any "alien" binary to /usr/bin (preferably making a "Slackware package" not to mess up her/his system) or to create symlinks to it.
