No sound in slackware 13.1

I've just finished installing slackware 13.1, but I'm not able to hear any sound.

I have tried alsaconf, but it did not help.

Here is the output of lsmod.

I think the adduser program gives you the option of adding those groups right at the beginning, I did it then.

I noticed something, when I tried alsamixer after alsaconf, the speakers are being detected as off. Also, there isn't a sound.conf file in /etc/modprobe.d, just a sound file.

1. Are you sure they are not just 'mute'?
2. What audio card have you got? Perhaps, try to find a sample ~/.asoundrc file on the alsa website and put it in your home directory (or /etc/asound.conf)
3. Is it the ONLY audio card on that machine?

EDIT: apparently, /etc/asound.conf is no longer the alsa default config file - now it's /etc/asound.state

What's the output of our /etc/asound.state?

Can you double check what groups you belong to (just in case)?

Yup, I'm added to the groups.

asound.state -

Code:
state.SIS966 {
	control.1 {
		comment.access 'read write'
		comment.type INTEGER
		comment.count 2
		comment.range '0 - 64'
		comment.dbmin -6400
		comment.dbmax 0
		iface MIXER
		name 'PCM Playback Volume'
		value.0 64
		value.1 64
	}
	control.2 {
		comment.access 'read write'
		comment.type BOOLEAN
		comment.count 2
		iface MIXER
		name 'Speaker Playback Switch'
		value.0 true
		value.1 true
	}
	control.3 {
		comment.access 'read write'
		comment.type BOOLEAN
		comment.count 2
		iface MIXER
		name 'Headphone Playback Switch'
		value.0 true
		value.1 true
	}
	control.4 {
		comment.access 'read write'
		comment.type INTEGER
		comment.count 2
		comment.range '0 - 3'
		comment.dbmin 0
		comment.dbmax 3000
		iface MIXER
		name 'Mic Boost'
		value.0 0
		value.1 0
	}
	control.5 {
		comment.access 'read write'
		comment.type INTEGER
		comment.count 2
		comment.range '0 - 3'
		comment.dbmin 0
		comment.dbmax 3000
		iface MIXER
		name 'Front Mic Boost'
		value.0 0
		value.1 0
	}
	control.6 {
		comment.access 'read write'
		comment.type BOOLEAN
		comment.count 2
		iface MIXER
		name 'Capture Switch'
		value.0 true
		value.1 true
	}
	control.7 {
		comment.access 'read write'
		comment.type INTEGER
		comment.count 2
		comment.range '0 - 31'
		comment.dbmin -1350
		comment.dbmax 3300
		iface MIXER
		name 'Capture Volume'
		value.0 0
		value.1 0
	}
	control.8 {
		comment.access 'read write'
		comment.type INTEGER
		comment.count 1
		comment.range '0 - 64'
		comment.dbmin -6400
		comment.dbmax 0
		iface MIXER
		name 'Master Playback Volume'
		value 64
	}
	control.9 {
		comment.access 'read write'
		comment.type BOOLEAN
		comment.count 1
		iface MIXER
		name 'Master Playback Switch'
		value true
	}
}
I set value.0 and value.1 true manually, in control.2. It was false before that, but still no luck.

Ok, it means that now it's only the question of kde settings. If you go to the system settings and see what you can do there...

This is very weird. I did nothing and suddenly the sound started working in KDE. I have no idea why. Anyway, great. I think that I might have not run alsaconf after changing the settings in asound.state. Thanks.
