slack8.1 has not been officially released. think you gotta wait a little longer. the current one is only the 'beta' or more accurately, RC1 (release candidate 1).
but i'm sure the available packages are all in working order. so if you're impatient, you can go try it out. i'm not because i'm not too keen on installing and re-installing so many times
well i found a place with the slackware 8.1 RC1 ISOs at http://ftp.eu.net/pub/linux/slackware/current-iso/ but im confused as to what i should download.....
there are 2 isos:
slackware-8.1-RC1-GNOME-KDE.iso
and
slackware-8.1-RC1-noGNOME-noKDE.iso
i'm currently downloading both, but i just wanna know if the slackware-8.1-RC1-GNOME-KDE.iso just has KDE and GNOME on it and the other one has all the base install files, and if so, will the slackware install prompt me to "insert KDE-GNOME cd" when it comes time to install these packages. i really wanna convert to slackware =), im sick of rpm dependent distros, any help would be very apreciated =)
