I use slackware 13.1
with KDE 4.4.3
When I minimize an application windows, I don't see it no more in my task bar but the system Monitor still show me this application is running. and I can only see it again using
Quote:
show application window
in the system monitor.
Otherwise I have to run it again and then my data are losted.

Reason: adding solved
Have you by any chance removed the task manager plasmoid from your panel? Try adding the plasmoid on the desktop, you should see your minimized applications there.
Why would you add a task manager to the systray? Try adding the task manager onto the desktop, then add it to the panel. (click the cashew on the right of the panel, and drag the task manager to were you want it)
Can you cycle through open windows using alt+tab if panel is borken?
I doubt the panel is broken; I'm betting he needs to add a task manager to his panel. Right-click on your desktop, click Unlock Widgets (if they're locked), click on the funny-looking cashew-shaped thingy on the panel in question, click Add Widgets, and double-click on the Task Manager Widget. I'm 99% sure that will solve the problem, if not try creating a new panel and putting a task manager on it.
