make wireless start at the bootup

I've just installed slackware 12.2. After some initial configuration I decided to get my wifi working (through ndiswrapper). Right, I don't have much experience with cli wireless setup, but I managed to get it working. After some googling and man-ing, I did the following:

1. iwconfig with all those essid, mode, etc.
2. wpa_supplicant.conf
Code:
# WPA protected network, supply your own ESSID and WPAPSK here:
network={
  scan_ssid=0
  ssid="blablabla"
  proto=WPA
  key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
  pairwise=CCMP TKIP
  group=CCMP TKIP WEP104 WEP40
  psk=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0f
}
Code:
wpa_supplicant -Dwext -i wlan0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
Now it's running in the foreground:

Code:
root@slackhost:/etc# wpa_supplicant -Dwext -i wlan0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
Trying to associate with 00:1d:7e:bd:4a:fa (SSID='blablabla' freq=2462 MHz)
Associated with 00:1d:7e:bd:4a:fa
Associated with 00:1d:7e:bd:4a:fa
Associated with 00:1d:7e:bd:4a:fa
Associated with 00:1d:7e:bd:4a:fa
WPA: Key negotiation completed with 00:1d:7e:bd:4a:fa [PTK=CCMP GTK=CCMP]
CTRL-EVENT-CONNECTED - Connection to 00:1d:7e:bd:4a:fa completed (auth) [id=0 id_str=]
Then:

Code:
dhcpcd wlan0
At this moment I got the connection or possibly I run wpa_gui as well. I don't remember.

So everything is working but what do I need to keep it. Do I need to put all those commands to rc.local? What's the standard on slackware?

thanks

Oops, I've just noticed wlan0 entries in rc.inet1.conf - I would probably be better to put it there, wouldn't it?

Hello,

Alien Bob's excellent Wiki on how to set up a wireless connection for Slackware will point you to the correct configuration.

Go to wpa_encryption

Thanks, excellent. It works. Last time I used slackware was in 2005 (for one month) when I didn't have the internet connection so I guess I have some catching up to do

If this is a desktop or laptop that starts X on boot, then use Wicd. It's point-and-click, and it has an option to connect on startup.

Once you get it all configured and working properly just add:

Code:
/sbin/modprobe ndiswrapper
to /etc/rc.d/rc.modules

and it will start automatically on boot.
