Thats it!!

I did a quick google search. Seems the module is RTL8139.o
SO you simply do a "modprobe rtl8139.o" and the driver will be installed. You will then need to configure ip adress.
Post again if you have problems with that.

I'm on a dorm network, so do I configure it to the 198.x.x.x. that the outside world sees or the 10.100.x.x of the internal network? Or both?

Not sure I fully understand your question.
If you are in a dorm, usally, they have a DHCP in there. So simply set the card to use a dhcp client.

Depending on the distribution it can vary. Here are a few a ran around
dhcpcd eth0
dhcpc

What distribution do you use??
