linuce gnome-2.8.3+ error message "platform you are running is not supported"

i do love gnome and installed linuce packetsin slack 10.1 box
from main menu (application)
>system tools
>> users and groups
>> time and date setting
>> new login in a nested window
>> networking
>> Disks

when you try do any of these, all shows the same message
all need root privilages(ok accepted)
when u enter root passwd it will show message (dialogue box) that
platform you are running is not supported by this tool
(in bold heading)
"" If you know for sure that it works like one of the platforns listed below,
you can select that and continue. Note however that this might damage the system configuration or downright cripple your computer. ""

and shows some distro names
in slack case till 10.0.0, no name of slac10.1

is this an error message??

terminal
have big console fonts i tried as said in the faq,
but for a normal user it shows no problem

Well, it is obviously that Gnome 2.8 is older then Slackware 10.1 so it didn't support it.

Just pick the latest version of slackware that is listed in the dialog and all will work fine. That has been my experience.
