keyboard problem (ABNT2) / l/lilo.config ?

1. I can`t type in correctly because i have a ABNT2(Brazilian-Portuguese keyboard) and kde is the only that comes with a option to correct this . what i wanted to ask is if there is any way that i can twist these settings in order to enable them by default cause if i open kcontrol on my current window manager "blackbox" i can set it to ABNT2 and it workd fine but after rebooting i loose it .

2.i want to try higher resolution on slackware so i changed sucessfully lower values (800X600 /640X480)on /etc/lilo.config but when i tried to change to vga=795 (1640X1024) i had an error at boot which i assume is dued to the latter change . I also looked the board and there wasn`t any available option higher then 1024X768 . can anyone tell me what i`m not doing right ,or rather, what i should do to make it work?
