kernel-headers

Hi,
I compiled my kernel that I got with my slack cd's which was 2.4.22 but patched it up to 2.4.24 and then compiled. I was wondering whether the fact that I compiled with the 2.4.22 kernel-headers instead of the 2.4.24 kernel-headers mattered or not. Also I know you need the kernel-headers to compile the kernel but what exactly are they for? Thanks

Actually, the kernel source comes with its' own headers. The headers in the kernel-headers package are for compiling other programs. If you decide to compile other source programs you can use the 2.4.22 headers.
