Unhappy invisible gnome submenu icon?

hi everyone,

my system is running fine; alsa, fonts, you name it.
i just compiled and installed abiword with anti-
aliased fonts, and i wanted to add it to my gnome
menu.

since i had no apps installed which automagically
create the 'office' submenu, i created my own sub-
menu using the gnome menu editor. i gave it the
nice bluecurve office icon, and added a launcher
for abiword.

then i checked my menu. it seemed my office sub-
menu had no icon!
the menu worked fine, and abi-
word did have an icon and ran fine. so the menu
did not seem broken. i logged off, and even re-
booted, in the hope that this would somehow fix
the icon, to no avail.

i searched through these and other forums, and
found no others with this problem. i hope someone
has an idea. so far my first thought would be that
the built-in office submenu which is activated by
gnome when a package is installed which is grouped
with office apps, conflicts somehow with my self-
created submenu with the same name.

suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

kind regards.
