okay, i've made a second copy of disc 1 and it's installing flawlessly. since im out of cds till later can i just install disc 1 now and have a working system and go back later and install disc 2 cause it's messed up too.. i think what made the big difference was changing the burn speed to 4x.

that's good news.
on cd 2 are kde and gnome, you can install that later if you want.
you don't need them to get a working system.
to start , maybe choose xfce as window manager.

sweet! my other computer is booting up slackware as i type. my 2nd disc only had a few optional pkgs that didn't install for kde but i think everything else is going to be fine! thanks for your patience egag! i have alot to learn... so you can all expect to hear from me soon! thank you!
