How to uninstall programs?


Hi,

How to uninstall programs? I know how to unzip and install programs using tar.

Is RPM good?

rpm -e packagename

I mean how to uninstall programs not installed using rpm. Those of .tar.gz format.

Often the program has an option to make uninstall or make distclean or something along those lines.

Another option is select search from the right upper coner of the website, and fill in "uninstall" and watch what you get.
This post wasn't intented to piss you off or anything, it was an advertisement of the search feature embedded into this great website.

if that's what you *meant* why isn't that what you *said* have a look at the first link in my sig, you'll get on a lot beter on this site with what it says there.

run pkgtool as root , then choose to uninstall packages.

removepkg <package>

where package is something in /var/log/packages.
