Freezes during boot

I recently Installed slack 10.1 on my computer. After selecting slack from the lilo and starts to boot and freezes. It freezes after

INIT: Entering Run level3:
going multiusers....

Any idea why this is?

it's going wrong at the start of /etc/rc.d/rc.M
try to comment out this line ( near the top ):

/bin/setterm -blank 15 -powersave powerdown -powerdown 60

if you hit " escape " at the lilo menu, you can type the label and a "1 "
( like " Slackware 1" ) to boot single-user and edit the file ( as root)

nice...but the real problem is with acpi i think .
if this is on a labtop and an acpi-kernel, do some googling for your pc-type & linux.
must be more people having the same prob ( and probably know a better solution )
