am i mistaken or this poll is intended only for slackers? It seems we're getting votes from other distro users, altering the reliability of results

You know, now that it's been pointed out, this poll should be more scientifical and stuff. Anybody know where we can find a scientician?

(I'm gonna go with Debian -testing.)

Yup, this is supposed to be ONLY for people who use Slackware [preferably those users for whom Slackware is 1st/2nd distribution of choice ]

Windows seems to be quite popular and *buntu seems to have gained quite some votes [I was dazzled that in the first few days it was still low in the polls, Ubuntu being such a liked distro nowadays]

I don't know what to say, as I consider myself a hardcore gamer but I freakin hate to use any kind of emulation as wine or cedega, as frank's corner site offers.

Here, some installers for linux, you shall need the original games though. Some are native, the others require emulation.

Install at will.

I have to add another vote for Mepis. Warren knows his stuff and puts out a nice distro. That said, I rely on Slack and just kind of "play around" with others.

The OP asked "Just curious what other Operating Systems Slackware fans like/love. ..." So, how is is it altering the reliability of results when someone votes what they like/love other than Slackware? If they only like/love Slackware, then they don't have to vote. The OP selected the 2nd favorite OS to choose from. Take the results for what they are and move on.

The key phrase in the quote is "Slackware fans". The poll starter wanted to know what Slackware fans thought, not the general population. :-) There are lots of other polls for that.

Never tried slack, but have been using Ubuntu since 4.10 "warty".... very nice OS, just wiped Windows XP (yay!), i really wouldnt consider using anything else... now, as a slightly more experienced linux user, i still don't find the OS insultingly "simplified" as there's always a terminal to hand when i want.

I might try slackware one day, but for a day-to-day, nicely set-up, easy-to-manage system you cant go wrong with Ubuntu... try it & you'll see what i mean, its almost "perfect".
