Unhappy Evolution 1.4 is pukeing on me

Was using Evolution with Slackware 9.0 and it was Evolution 1.2. Now i have Evolution 1.4 running on Slackware 9.1. I can recieve mail just fine, but when i try to send any mail, i get this error:

Error while performing operation:
MAIL FROM response error: Syntax
error, command unrecognized

What the hell is this? I have set my account up 3 times and keep getting the same error. I never had a problem sending mail with Slack 9.0 and Evolution 1.2. Is this a bug?, and if it is, has it been documented.

I made sure i was running SMTP just in case. Its running by default, and i have restarted the service many times.

Any ideas?????

you could try removing and reinstalling the package. make sure you have all the dependencies for evolution as well (openldap, etc).

I had the same error, and found this thread via Google.

The fix was editing out a double localhost entry in /etc/hosts.
