Error while installing Evince

Hello,

I've Slackware 13.37 (2.6.37.6-smp) installed with Xfce (Installed everything except KDE). I'm trying to install Evince, since CPU usage goes really high when I try to scroll pages on Xpdf. So decided to give Evince a go after reading this, using Slackbuilds.

But I get following error when installing:
Code:
lines truncated

configure.ac:56: the top level
configure.ac:62: warning: AC_LANG_CONFTEST: no AC_LANG_SOURCE call detected in body
../../lib/autoconf/lang.m4:194: AC_LANG_CONFTEST is expanded from...

configure.ac:62: the top level

If this token and others are legitimate, please use m4_pattern_allow.
      See the Autoconf documentation.
autoreconf: /usr/bin/autoconf failed with exit status: 1
One forum suggested to check if libtools is installed. I've checked and it is installed (libtool-2.4-i486-1).

Any idea how it can be resolved?

Thanks.

I got the SlackBuild to work by commenting out the line

Code:
autoreconf # we need to do this after the poppler api update patch
I could have sworn that I told the maintainer about this, but possibly not.

I got evince from SBO to build successfully with 13.37. I had the same libtool warnings as you but I think they are harmless. The real problem is, in my opinion, the error about AM_GCONF_SOURCE_2.
The evince.SlackBuild from SBO (at least the one that I have) passes the
Code:
--without-gconf
option to configure.
It looks like you are not passing this parameter in the SlackBuild and are building with GConf enabled (I have not tried this.)

Edit: I have successfully rebuilt the package with the --with-gconf option. Of course I have the GConf package installed, which installs the file "/usr/share/aclocal/gconf-2.m4" where the AM_GCONF_SOURCE_2 macro is defined.

P.S. Do you have the GConf package installed?

Thanks for your help guys. I've tried first tried Nylex's suggestion which worked. But then installed Awn and Emerlad for which I needed GConf. So I removed and installed Evince again. It's working perfectly. Thanks fgcl2k.

We can mark this SOLVED now.
