Yes it reports axis in the range -127 0 127 if the analog is switched off and hat switch 0 1 if the analog is on.
btw qt is only used for the ui in evtest-qt it is the event interface that is being read.
You could just open a terminal and type evtest to get a list of all event interfaces and evtest /dev/input/event<event number>
to get the same information no qt involved.
ok i fool with that a bit later, i just made a nice cozy fire.... i still think duckstation just doesn't like my adapter.
I have this controller and this one and both work flawlessly in duckstation and epsxe.
My controller arrived today , I replaced my PS2 controller with this one, and launched the previous version of duckstation .... No issue, I can actually play my games... Well I guess the only issue is with this controller I have to really press down on the buttons to register, it just seems not as 'responsive' maybe like a proper playstation controller , but oh well I guess at this point beggars can't be choosers. Just strange why duckstation just does NOT like my PS2 controller with the usb adapter... oh well.

Yeah mine are the same, even though these gamepads are nice they are definitely not the quality of an OEM controller.

Sucks that I can't really get a PS4 or PS5 controller because it is wireless only...I'd settle for a PS3 maybe I don't know, but all this wireless is bullshit imo.
Well I was genuinely curious enough to test this out myself. Plus like you said I still prefer the feel of the OEM controllers. I ordered a new wired PS2 controller from eBay and this adapter from Amazon. I am going to see if I have the same problem.
I got the OEM Sony Dualshock 2 controller today and the USB adapter. Works fine with PCSX2, but With duckstation automatic mapping does not work correctly. However after manually mapping the gamepad buttons everything is working fine. I only tested it with Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. But it should probably be noted that this adapter says its for PS2 and PS3 controllers, I am not sure if or why that would make a difference.
