My primary tool for converting video to DVD compatible MPEG format is a shell script set under the title of tovid, which can output several video formats using a combination of mplayer and ffpmeg as a conversion engine. I convert videos using that script and do sanity checks before bringing DVDStyler into play. This saves time while actually making the disc structure instead of letting DVDStyler issue the calls and reacting badly to a failed conversion.
I've gotten used to DVDStyler and the fine level of control it gives me. I've done menuless discs (apparently to the user), however a true menuless disc is impossible as far as I can tell. I just configure the required first menu to be a blank black screen and to time out after a few seconds and play the video. I've hidden Easter Eggs in some of my projects.
Until I can find where the LD_LIBRARY_PATH veriable is being set for my normal user ID, I have a simple shell script that unsets the variable, exports it, then calls dvdstyler.
A kludge, but it works.
Thanks for all the assistance.
