Solved.
just a small case of 1 mistyped letter.
basically (for those who want to know) i didn't completely uninstall the old drivers when i went from a source build to a .tgz build.

solved that when i rebuilt the kernel.

if u prefer madwifi, go to slackbuilds.org and u'll find two tgzs, yeah, I remember one is driver tgz and the other is tool tgz, good luck :-)
