Asus 1215T and Slackware64 13.1 webcam support?

Hi,

I have been trying to get the webcam under Slackware to work with eeePC 1215T. I've Googled for few hours and still came up with nothing. I'm not even sure if UVC supports this built in webcam!

From lspci..

Well lspci will list pci bus attached devices. I take it it's on the USB bus as UVC, which you mentioned, works with these devices. If it is on the USB bus use /sbin/lsusb to see it. Also try lsmod and look for v4l modules loaded. I don't have any direct experience with this hardware but have with messing around with webcams so that's the best I can do for now.

lsusb shows Linux Foundation or IMC Networks, no webcam, does that mean the webcam in the laptop is not supported?

Not necessarily - have a good look at dmesg and see if anything relevant is listed. As I said, I know nothing of the platform so i don't know whether the camera will be detected as being on the PCI bus or USB or in fact at all! The kernel messages should give an idea if the kernel is detecting it at boot up so look closely at dmesg. Googling around indicates many people run Linux on this hardware, (I don't know, is Linux perhaps an option when buying this hardware), but I haven't found anything specifically about the webcam. Hopefully someone with relevant experience will chip in here. Good luck with this and be sure to keep us posted on your progress.
