Question After darkstar login ?

Hello!

thanks to LinuxQuestion!

There was a problem with me after installing Slackware 10.2 on my PC.
"DarkStar Login" i don't know what to do with this!
After reading Slackware online book & searching LinuxQuestion forum
I've got solution...

But now the problem is that after logging in to "DarkStar Login" as "root"...
I'm just logged in...!
It is now like a DOS Prompt...

As a newbie, i don't know what to do know... because i don't know linux commands...! I can work in GUI only...

Now plz guide me how to proceed further in a GUI (KDE etc).

If you have installed X-windows run
Code:
startx
to use the GUI. But I suggest you to create a normal user by
Code:
adduser
and log as this user since it's dangerous to run apps as root.

Regards

To have your computer boot into a GUI (such as KDE, Fluxbox, et cetera), search the LQ forums for 'Runlevel' -- this will point you in the right direction.

Also it is a good idea to unmute your soundcard by running:
Code:
alsamixer
and then
Code:
alsactl store
at the root prompt.

Happy Slacking

But before running startx, as a "normal" user, you'll have to run xorgconfig, as root, to set things up correctly.

Cheers.
