Well depending on if your issuing out static IP's or DHCP from the router configurations, all you really have to do is if your NIC is supported, just simply run
netconfig to configure your network in Slackware and it should prompt for all the info, if you select DHCP it will just be like in Windows, get the info from the router, etc.
Then in most cases you just need to add your ISP's DNS entries to /etc/resolv.conf and your all set and done.
