Hello, i just installed 9.1 and things are going pretty well.
However, I seem to have a problem trying to get back into my box when it has been locked for awhile.
When i try to enter in my password and press enter, the enter button wont work, and after some time the dialog box disappears. If i use the enter key on the 10-key, it will actually enter my password, but then i will get a "failed" response.
The only weird thing that I can think of is that I am using a KVM switch between my linux box and other computer, but the KVM switch is supposed to be platform independent. Im using the Belkin 2-port KVM switch F1DK102P.
If your other computer is running Windows, then blame the Belkin KVM. I used to have a Belkin, and no matter which direction I wanted to switch (Linux to Windows or vice versa) the first time I switched everything would work fine, but attempts to return to the first box frequently resulted in problems with either the mouse or the keyboard.
I got rid of the Belkin, which solved the problem. Now I'm using a Trendware KVM, with no complaints at all. -- J.W.
I also have a Belkin F1DK102P 2-Port KVM, and I hate it. I can switch from Windows XP Pro to Slackware 9.1 without any problems. It's when I try to switch from Slack back to XP it won't. It will act as if there is no KVM. Sometimes if I do it rapid fire (ScrLk + ScrLk + Up in 1/2 a second) then it might work, but you pretty much have to do it repeatedly until it works. I emailed Belkin to ask if they had a fix and they told me "It's the OS, the CPU speed, or other factors" but the box is a PIII 600MHz, which I would think is ample fast.
So is there a way that I can edit how fast the keyboard gets the strokes (maybe a delay or something?). Any other suggetsions are appreciated.
