This should make it a 3c59x family card... This thing really new? It might take having to compile a newer driver code. Its a standard chipset, the 905 series, just probably a brand spanking new rev. If :

modprobe 3c59x

kicks, try www.3com.com's website, and compiling their version (i.e. not the kernel driver) from scratch and see how that fairs.

Luck,

I got off of my keister and did the research, so not to beat to death my Penn and Teller fascination, is this your card?

If so, you can download the 3com made driver's from here, but really the Becker 3c59x should work.

Luck,

Finegan

As far as being out of a P1 133, new card, old machine? I think this thing released around '98. It does 100Base-T, heck, I think I have one. er... lemme check:

Hmm... lspci -v yields:

00:11.0 Ethernet controller: 3Com Corporation 3c905 100BaseTX [Boomerang]
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 10
I/O ports at ff00

lsmod kicks out:

3c59x 21424 1

I have one of those in my machine and it works just fine (model might be slightly different but it is the same rev of chipset. Make sure the kernel has the 3c59x compiled into it, or if it is compiled as a module make sure it loads. I have never seen a 3com card that didn't work just fine under linux.
