Hello to all,
I'm new to linux, i never use linux before, but i would like to do programming using linux/open source programming, but i don't know where to start.
I have learn basic programming like PHP, Java, ASP, C and C++. and i would like to know what type of programming language that Linux using? and how to learn Linux programming form scratch bottom!
Please advise me what to do.

1) I'm using Microsoft Windows OS, i never use Linux before, so...when i wanted to install Linux OS, i found out that there are alot of Linux......, Linux Redhat, Linux Kernel and much more, can anyone tell me which version of Linux OS that i need to download?
2) To learn Linux proggramming, which Version of Linux i have to install?

Any mainstream distro can run c, perl and java programms if the necessary libraries for the specific program are available. Also any mainstream distro will come with libc for c programs, perl runtime for perl scrips. I'm not sure about the java virtual Machine. As far as I remember Fedora does not come with it, you have to install on your own.

I would say the best to start off with is slackware linux. www.slackware.com HEnce the name, the programmers programme! :^D
