X won't start at load

Ok so I'm a total linux newbie and am running Mandrake 9.2 and kde froze so I pressed cntrl alt f1 and then cntrl alt delete and restarted the computer. Now I can't get x to load on startup, startx works fine but how can I make X start when the computer loads up rather than the console?

Thanks

edit this file /etc/inittab on the line where it asks for the init level (should be 3 by default) change it to 4.
