Websites load slow, but once they load, any links inside them load fast

If I go to google.ca, it will take about 30 seconds,but once I'm in google.ca, I can search something, and it will go really fast... same with this website, it loaded slow, now when i go to forums and stuff, it loads fast....

What could be the problem? I've set up DNS servers and everything...

I'm using the 2006 mandriva.. thanks =)

Sounds like heavy load on your nameserver(s) is slowing down name resolution. Is it your server or your ISPs?

I would look for the source of the problem in your browser rather than in the config. What do you surf the web with?

I use the firefox that came with mandriva..

PS: When I installed linux, I now can't boot to windows, what's up with it? I have the windows option in Lilo
