With the new Mandriva version 2006 I can no longer transfer pictures from my Canon Powershot 2 SII to the computer (pictbridge interface). This worked in 2005 LE. I can read usb memory sticks with no problem.
the camera programs (tested digicam & ghoto) can not get contact with the camera.
Do you know what could cause this? and how to fix it?
My Cannon Powershot 300(IXUS 40) works in mandriva 2006, but not automatically like it did in LE2005. With the camera connected and powered on, try going into digikam>Camera>Add Camera>Autodetect and see if your camera is autodetected. If it is, it will be added to the Camera menu. You have to select your camera there to download pictures.
Thank you!
That solved that problem. I had manually added the camera and for some reason that didn't work.
The automatic sorting into folders by date worked also, something that didn't work with the version of digikam with 2005 LE, at leat not with my camera model.

How did you get Mandriva 2006. I am going everywhere to find 2006. And because my club memebership is Aluminum, I do not have the ability to download the ISOs. Please help me out. Thank you.

Ok, I have a solution. Do not use auto detection for the camera, set it up manually and select the model as "USB Mass Storage". Once thats done, change the path to /mnt/removable instead of /mnt/camera.
