I have installed Mageia 5 with KDE4 and after just one month replaced it with Mageia 6 sta2 (
stabilisation snapshot 2), back in March 2017.
It was one of my first "non-debian" distros, as I used to run only Kubuntu since 2009, and I had never seen Mandrake / Mandriva in its time.
Later in 2017-2018, I have also installed PCLinuxOS (
and Rosa Desktop Fresh R10) but it uses APT-RPM and Synaptic, so it is a different case.
Along these 2 years with Mageia 6 I didn't really learn so much, as I dualbooted much more PCLinuxOS (
and other distros) than Mageia.
Less than 1 year ago, I left RPMdrake and started to use
urpmi instead.
I could see there are many "media sources", but didn't realize how to deal with them. ─ So, there were some problems with audio and never could run Wine apps.
Now with Mageia 7 (
beta2) I did try a bit more, in a different way, and learned a few things. ─ So, audio is fine and Wine finally works.
I did take some notes on this experience ─ unhappily, in Portuguese (
pt_BR), but there is a Translate button at top, in the right columnu, if you use desktop computer:

This is not a "tuto", nor a "howto" ─ just some notes that can help me in the future, as notes on Mageia 6 did now:
