Dlink DWL 650 rev p install

Hey guys-

I have searched on this site on came up with a couple of solutions to try and install my Dlink DWL 650 wireless PCMCIA on my linux machine.

I came up with a thread that linked
House of Craig

Please search for "Dlink DWL 650" and you will get "install linux-wlan-ng " thread which contains everything I am referring to below, sorry I dont have 5 posts.

I downloaded the tar file that I needed to just like it said and I ran the lspci -n command:

its says that if you dont see a combination of any of these lines from running the command which are:

* 104c:8400
* 104c:8401
* 104c:9066

Well when I ran it I got 104c:8029 and the guide states that if I dont get whats above then I dont have a ACX-100 based card.

However this guy in that same thread is telling the author to get a non ACX 100 card. And the author is trying to install the same card that I am.

Now I originally wanted to use linux-wlan-ng and install that however when you go to Dlink's website you get a bunch of different pre tar files and whatnot and Im not sure which one's to download. Plus the readme file say that you need to have configured your kernel source code, well I am running fedora and unforunately I have not built the kernel.

Im not sure what to do here guys all I know is I really would like to configure my wireless card to work correctly under fedora because I know its possible.

Any help would be greatly appriecaited!
Thanks alot,

lspci should tell you which version card you have then get Madwifi that should get it installed for you
You might also need dhcpcd to get an ip address
Also for my card I cant boot up with it in I need to insert it in after I have logged on for it to work properly
